“The Little Apple”, a free newsletter publication based in Appleton City and serving the county, celebrated its 31st anniversary on Oct. 27.
The Little Apple was established in 1993 by the A.C. Economic Development as a means of informing the city’s residents of events and other items sponsored by area businesses and organizations, as well as publishing requests for birthday wishes, anniversary announcements, and recognition of awards recipients.
Today, the newsletter continues to circulate in not only the Appleton City area but across the county and surrounding area, helping to inform residents of events as well as assists other media sources -newspaper publishers, including the St. Clair County Courier and Appleton City Journal and local radio stations- with information about upcoming county events and special recognitions.
In last week’s edition of the weekly newsletter, the Appleton City Industrial Development Committee thanked area citizens for their support over the past three decades, the Community First Bank in Appleton City, which provides weekly photocopying of the newsletter, and those who have donated toward the production process.
The committee also recognized the volunteers who have helped make publication and distribution possible. “We would especially like to offer thanks to those who collate and deliver the Apple each week. The Little Apple is truly a worldwide newsletter, being sent by email to people interested in Appleton City all over the world.”
The staff at the St. Clair County Courier/Appleton City Journal and Rich Hill Mining Review expresses their appreciation to those responsible for production of The Little Apple, especially Dr. Don Payton, for the continued and dedicated assistance in providing the county with valuable community event information.
